Chug, Run, Party, Repeat
The only time you’ll find me running is if it’s an emergency or if you’ve got the right type of carrot dangling at the end of the stick. What if that carrot was Beer?
Well it’s been done before and the very act of running and drinking Beer has become a sport in the rest of the world called “The Beer Mile“.
The good news is that it’s coming to India and the first ever Beer Mile is taking place first right here in Bangalore (Beer Capital of India) on November 20th as “Beer Mile India“. Tales Of Froth will be assisting as an event partner and if you’re lucky, you may just get to see us attempting to run with Beer!
Once Bangalore is done, Beer Mile India moves on to six other cities – Goa, Mumbai , Delhi, Kolkota, Pune & Hyderabad.
What is a Beer Mile?
The most standard format of the beer mile requires a single participant to drink a 330ml beer, run a quarter mile (400 m), then repeat the process three times. This results in the consumption of four beers and running of four quarter miles (hence the beer mile).

Is it safe?
Unless you are suffering from a medical condition, sickness or severely dehydrated, you will be fine during this event. Chugging Beers may get you light headed and a bit bloated but if you drink Beer like we do, that should pose no problem. How good you are at running depends on you.
Beer Mile India
The race will follow the same general rules as listed above however there will be a few variations to make it more appealing to a wider audience.
- Open Run – Standard Beer Mile format, 1 participant, 4 Beers.
- Social Run – 1/2 Mile Format, 1 participant, 2 Beers.
- Team Run – Mile run by Teams with 2 participants, 4 Beers (in total).
The event is open to just over 1,000 runners in total combined across all 3 event types. Expected attendance will be about 3,000-5,000 people including participants and those who come out to support.
What about people who come out to show their support, friends & family members? Don’t worry, there will be plenty of activities to keep everyone busy – Beer, Food, Music (Live) and plenty of games.
The entire event is sponsored by Kingfisher Blue
It’s a lager and crisper and smoother than their Premium, slightly hoppy and a little bit stronger at 6% ABV.
Brand positioning (according to UB)- “Kingfisher Blue has always been associated with fun and adventure, calling its consumers to push their limits and step out. Launched in 2008, this young and sporty brand occupies a distinct imagery of adventure sports, positioned to appeal to those who have a keen aspiration to explore the outdoors”
